Today was an OLC Day, giving our teachers and staff time to learn, collaborate, plan, connect, and continue the work that supports our students and families. It was a busy, productive, and successful day across the district!
A few highlights from today:
Parents as Teachers Play Group at Hy-Vee - Our Parents as Teachers Play Group took learning into the community with a scavenger hunt at Hy-Vee, giving families a fun opportunity to learn together while building healthy eating habits. Thank you to Hy-Vee for taking time out of your busy workday to welcome our families and help make this experience possible!
District Safety Meeting - Dr. Dawson led SROs, building administrators, teachers, and staff in conversations about safety measures, procedures, and initiatives being piloted throughout the district.
6th Grade Parent Meeting — Our 6th grade teachers welcomed parents and students for a Parent Meeting designed to help families feel informed and prepared for the year ahead. Teachers walked families through student iPads and programs, homework expectations, answered questions, and shared ways families can stay connected throughout the year.
Days like today are a reminder that possibilities are created in so many ways—through learning, planning, connecting, building relationships, and working together to make School of the Osage even better for our students and families. 🎺 Making Music at the National Level! 🎺
This is a BIG one! We are incredibly proud to announce that George Perry has been selected as a National FFA Band member, earning him the opportunity to perform on stage during the 2026 National FFA Convention in Indianapolis!
Out of over 1,000,000 FFA members from across the country, George earned his spot in the National FFA Band through his hard work, musical talent, and dedication. He will join other FFA members from across the nation to perform in front of thousands at Lucas Oil Stadium, which is an experience that very few members achieve.
What makes this even more special is that George will be the first member representing our chapter and our school on one of the biggest stages in the FFA! We could not be more excited for George and all that he has accomplished. We know he will represent us incredibly well, and we can’t wait to see him take the stage this October! Congratulations, George! We are so proud of you!

We are incredibly proud to celebrate School of the Osage FFA member Addison Bradley on an outstanding accomplishment at the 2026 Missouri State Fair. Addison’s ham was named the Overall Grand Champion Ham, a tremendous achievement that reflects the time, dedication, hard work, and attention to detail she has put into her project. Accomplishments at this level do not happen overnight, and Addison has represented herself, her family, and School of the Osage FFA with tremendous pride.
We could not be more proud of Addison and all the work that went into getting her to this point. Congratulations, Addison, on an accomplishment you should be incredibly proud of!

As we prepare for a year filled with possibilities, our teachers and staff spent time learning with Billy Brazle from Marzano Resources. Billy shared “From Evidence to Action: Building PLCs That Respond to Student Learning,” focusing on how strong PLCs can use evidence of student learning to guide conversations, inform instruction, and determine next steps. It was a great opportunity to learn together, ask questions, and start thinking about the possibilities ahead for our students and our schools.
Before the school year got underway, our teachers took to the road to meet students and families right where they are. Families met the Possibilities Tour buses at stops throughout our community, reconnecting with familiar faces, meeting teachers, and getting excited about the year ahead. A huge thank you to everyone who came out to see us—and to the many community locations that welcomed our buses! We loved seeing so many smiles along the way. Here's to a school year filled with connections, opportunities, and POSSIBILITIES!
Welcome, Class of 2030! School of the Osage High School welcomed our newest Indians for Freshman Orientation on August 19! Freshmen and their families heard from counselors about the ins and outs of high school, met administrators and teachers, and then had time to explore the building, find classrooms, and get to know some new faces.
Upperclassmen were also on hand to help our freshmen feel at home, and a couple of student groups had tables set up to share ways to get involved at OHS. A new school, new experiences, and so many possibilities ahead. We’re excited to have you here, freshmen!

What a fantastic week we had welcoming our New Teachers and Staff to Osage!
We kicked off the week with Welcome to Osage Day and wrapped it up with SOTO’s version of The Amazing Race! In between, our newest Indians had a busy week filled with building tours, technology training, curriculum training, mentor/mentee time, and plenty of opportunities to learn, connect, and experience what makes Osage such a special place.
Welcome to Osage Day brought together all teachers and staff who are new to the district and was the perfect way to begin the week! We enjoyed a delicious breakfast provided by SOTO Food Services, heard inspiring words from Dr. Price, and headed to the Heritage Gym to take part in the traditional “Osage” circle. Our Board Members, District Leaders, and Building Leaders shared what Osage means to them, giving our newest staff members a glimpse into the pride, tradition, and community that make up the Osage family.
Our new teachers were also treated to breakfast provided by their buildings one morning, along with lunches generously provided by MNEA and OTA/MSTA. We are so thankful to everyone who helped make the week welcoming, informative, fun, and memorable!
And what better way to end the week than with SOTO’s Amazing Race! Our new teachers ventured out to explore some of the iconic sites and communities that make up our district. From the Bagnell Dam Strip to the Swinging Bridges in Brumley, just to name a few, they had the opportunity to experience some of the places that make our Osage community so unique.
And the excitement continues! This week, we welcome all of our Osage teachers and staff back as we prepare for another great school year. We can’t wait to have everyone together again and are excited for all that the year ahead will bring!

More than 800 students, families, staff members, and community members came through the doors for Osage Fest, helping us kick off another school year!
Osage Fest was an opportunity for our school community to reconnect, meet staff, explore opportunities for the year ahead, take care of back-to-school needs, and enjoy an evening centered around our students and families. Throughout the event, families had access to registration assistance, sports physicals, haircut vouchers, school pictures, activities, community resources, and much more—all in one place to help make the start of the school year a little easier.
An event like Osage Fest truly takes a community. We are incredibly grateful to our School of the Osage staff, Osage Family Partnership, and the many community partners who gave their time and resources to make the evening possible. A special thank you also goes to the generous sponsors whose financial contributions helped purchase shampoo, conditioner, and other hygiene products for our students and families, as well as supplies needed to make Osage Fest possible. We’re also grateful to the local hair salons that donated haircut vouchers, giving students the opportunity to start the school year looking and feeling their best. Every donation, volunteer hour, resource, and helping hand played a part in making the evening a success and showed what can happen when the Osage community comes together for our students.
And, of course, thank you to the 800+ people who joined us! Seeing so many members of the Osage community together was a great way to begin the year. We’re excited for what’s ahead and look forward to another great year at School of the Osage!

The 2026 SOTO Foundation Golf Scramble was one for the books! With a full tournament field of 30 teams and the incredible support of 58 generous sponsors, this event continues to grow because of the amazing people who believe in and support the mission of the SOTO Foundation.
We are so grateful to every golfer who joined us, every sponsor who invested in this event, and every volunteer who gave their time and talents to help make the day a success. Your generosity, energy, and support made the tournament more than just a great day of golf - it was an absolute blast!
A special thank-you goes to our two amazing Hole Hosts, Lake Movers and Midwest Roofing, for bringing even more excitement and fun to the course. Lake Movers helped kick off the day by welcoming golfers to the first tee and setting the tone for a fantastic tournament, while Midwest Roofing helped bring the fun all the way to the finish line. The Heckle Hole was definitely a crowd favorite! We’re not sure everyone’s golf game appreciated the extra commentary, but it certainly gave everyone something to talk—and laugh—about! 😂 The fun didn’t stop there! Golfers also took on the Hawaiian Tee-Off Challenge on Hole 8 and the Flamingo Chipping Challenge on Hole 11, adding even more laughs, friendly competition, and memorable moments throughout the day.
One more shout out goes to Bear Creek Valley Golf Club for hosting the 2026 SOTO Foundation Golf Scramble and helping make the day such a success. Their excellent course and hospitality helped create a great experience for everyone who joined us.

Our 12-month employees enjoyed a well-deserved luncheon last week as a small token of appreciation for all they do throughout the year. Forty-one employees gathered to enjoy a delicious meal from Half-Sauced Barbeque. Dr. Price shared his appreciation for their dedication, and the afternoon was filled with great food, games, prizes, lots of laughter, good conversation, and a raffle to wrap up the celebration. A special thank you to Mrs. Heidi Newell, Mrs. Holli Robinett, and Mrs. Julie Luttrell for coordinating the games, and to Mrs. Lori Henley for organizing the luncheon. We appreciate everyone who helped make it such a fun celebration of our outstanding 12-month staff!

Today, we took the afternoon to show our appreciation for the amazing team of 12-month employees who keep our district running year-round.
Summer work often happens behind the scenes, but the results of their dedication will be front and center as our buildings open back up for a new school year. From freshly waxed floors to repaired systems, restocked supplies, deep cleans, and so much more, their hard work makes it all possible.
We’re also grateful for our principals, technology department, and central office staff who keep everything rolling through the summer months, planning, supporting, and preparing for the year ahead.
Together, this team shows unmatched commitment, care, and pride in making our facilities and systems the best they can be for our entire School of the Osage community.
